History
According to historical records Nanning was the main center of
military power in southwest China about 1,600 years ago. It was
during the reign of the Yuan dynasty from 1279 to 1368, when
Nanning earned its present name. In the later years Nanning was
subjugated by invading Mongols. Nanning remained a medium-sized
market town till the European traders set up a trading post for
supplying arms and ammunitions to the army during the Vietnam
war.
