History

Harbin in Heilongjiang, China used to be a quiet and obscure fishing village that was discovered and developed by the Russians during the process of laying railway tracks and forming railway junctions. The Russian influence in Harbin, China has been so strong that this part of China came to be known as "Little Moscow." Harbin was conquered by Japan in 1931 and came to be known as Manchuria. After the WW II came to an end Manchuria was handed back to China and was later renamed as Harbin.
