Location

Haikou is located towards the north of Hainan, China. Haikou is also located close to the Qiongzhou Strait. Haikou lies near the Chengmai county in China.

History

Haikou owes its existence to the Han dynasty. This city was created by General Lu Bode of Fubo in 110 B.C. Haikou at that time was a part of the Zhuyadaimao County. Over the years Haikou became an important port city and was a flourishing trade center for centuries. In the year 1988 Haikou became the capital city of the Hainan Province of China.
