People's Republic of China is located in the south-eastern part
of Asia and in the east of Asia by the Pacific Ocean. The country
is the third largest in area after Russia and Canada. China is the
most populous country in the world with an approximate population
of 1.28 million. China has a coastline of about 18,000 kilometres
and land borders of the country run over 20,000 kilometres. China
shares borders with Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), India, Bhutan,
Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan,
Russia, Mongolia and North Korea. Most rivers in China flow from
west to east into the Pacific Ocean.
