Visa Power: While you need a visa to enter Mainland China, you might not need one separately to enter Hong Kong and Macau. There is a visa-free entry to Macau and Hong Kong for people possessing passport of some selected countries. This can be checked from the Chinese embassies or tourist offices. You need a Tibet Permit to travel to Tibet. The permits can be taken after coming into China. However, you can enter into Tibet from a neighbouring country by taking the Letter of Confirmation from the Chinese Embassy in that country.

When to travel to China: Spring (March-April) and autumn (September-October) are the ideal times to hit the Dragon land. The temperature during this time hovers between 20°C to 30°C, though nights can be chilly. The high season in China lasts from March to November while the low season is from December to February.

Protection against Cold: Special care should be taken to avoid cold. Weather changes constantly during spring and autumn. During this time, it rains also. Keeping an umbrella is handy.

Dos: Look to your right when getting off the bus. Bicycle riders may prove nuisance. Learn counting from 1-10; will of immense help while shopping. You can also write down numbers when discussing them.

Don't: Place your hand in or near your mouth, it is considered bad manners.
